Michael Showalter wrote and directed this video to promote 92YTribeca (to spite not actually having anything to do with it), the home of Comedy Below Canal which instantly became one of the biggest indy comedy shows in the frickin’ world (Disclaimer: I’ve done almost no research about this.  I just opened my window, looked out to see if I could find a bigger show and I didn’t.  But it really is big).

The video (as well as the show) has got all your favorites of the alternative comedy scene (if you want to call them that, obviously there has been a lot of debate as to what alternative comedy is.  We even did an episode on it.  In this case, it’s people who are funny, doing more interesting and ground breaking work than the mainstream community and are probably not getting paid nearly as well as they should be.  And also they perform around the NYC area for free often in rooms that are in the back of bars) so it’s worth watching just to enjoy all of them, plus it’s funny.  (did anyone else notice that most of this post was in parentheses.  It would have been faster to put the stuff not in parentheses in parentheses. Am I righ people?  {pause for laughter} Yeah, this cat is on fire.  [I've never refered to myself as a cat before or gone three different types of parentheses deep] ) So enjoy…
