How Does Appearance Effect Comedy?

by The Comedy Nerds on November 21, 2008

This week we look at how appearance effects the way audiences respond to a comedian. Can a comic be both hot and funny or do audiences say to themselves, “Look, you’ve already got the hot thing.  Don’t push it!” Does a comedian’s appearance dictate what type of comedy they can do and if so, is it possible to overcome it?  Or must an attractive comedian deal with “the burden of hotness” (my guitar is gently weeping for them)?

We welcome stand-up comedian and Williamsburg Spelling Bee host Jen Dziura as our guest this week.  She’s a quick and funny lady who can spell any word you’ve ever heard.
